What's this all about then?
A long meeting is a meeting, but you probably guessed that. It's also quite long...but you probably guessed that as well.
What we're doing here is inviting online debate about a series of topics that have been of interest to TALK contributors and lurkers.
Rob Bulman came up with the idea of the 'slow meeting' and presented it at the 1st TALK Pecha Kucha back in July.
The long meeting is intended to provide an extension to traditional F2F meetings by providing the time for reflection and thought on what others are saying. A distinct advantage is that they can be accessed at any time from (almost) anywhere, so there's less of a scheduling issue. Finally, a wiki like TALK is a very good vehicle for this kind of thing.
So here's how it works.
- We open a long meeting. You can see which are open and closed below.
- You come along, read the rules of the meeting, take in the debate and add your comment. You can add it via text comment, video or however you see fit.
- We close the meeting on a pre-determined date.
- We post some kind of summary of the meeting.
That's it. Get going.
