Paul Carruthers blog on TALK

Public Sector Twitterers
Added by Paul Carruthers, last edited by Paul Carruthers on Sep 01, 2008 14:27

Just a bit of fun really...TwitterLeague popped up on the radar today (via Techcrunch UK so I thought I'd start one for Public Sector Twitterers.

There'll be many I've missed and don't know about...tweet me at talkwiki if you feel sufficiently irked that you aren't listed.

Now, I must start getting talkwiki further up the league! Oh yeah, I said a bit of fun, right?

Funny you should pop this up. I have been using http://twitterholic.com/ this morning to establish people I have common ground with whether its subject matter or location. Its is great market research to seek firstly, competition in your given subject matter and secondly, in a more friendly 'twitter' manner collaboration and networking.

It gives great ranking:

I am currently 43rd Twitterer in Liverpool. Note the use of 'currently' because as soon as a list and ranking appears, you suddenly become very proud. Feel all Pac-Mac like but with followers instead of pills.

Cough! Cough!

And according to the http://cllrtweeps/ website 118 councillors and 90 councils are registered Twitterers.

The purpose of cllrtweeps site is to find and list the UK's tweeting councillors, so residents can follow and tweet them.

Councillors are listed, by local authority, in the council index.

The site gets its inspiration from Tweetminster and all the other public Twitter directories and is in its very early stages of development, mainly serving as a directory rather than offering more interactive content.

Currently 41 Lib Dem councillors have signed up, 27 Conservative and 24 Labour. And yes I am happy to confirm the Rochdale is represented!
